Calvary Episcopal Church
in downtown Santa Cruz
532 Cedar Street
In 1864 Calvary Episcopal Church opened on Easter Sunday for services. This little church has the distinction of being the oldest church in continuous use in Santa Cruz County. Endowed by a woman, Eliza Boston, Calvary was built from locally grown clear heart redwood, including the pews which are still in place. The stained glass windows, shipped around Cape Horn by sailing ship from New York in 1880, still grace the altar, and the aisle is flanked by our original, working gaslights.
For further information contact the church office, 831-423-8787, or wedding coordinator Chris Perrin, 831-428-5864.
